From Plumbing to Bitcoin

How I Transitioned from Real Estate to a Superior Investment

Starting out in my first job as an apprentice plumber, I quickly learned that hard work alone, wasn’t enough to secure the prosperous future I desired. I realised early on that earning a wage and saving cash wasn’t a solid strategy against inflation and economic instability. I needed a more reliable way to establish, grow, and protect wealth.

Driven by this realisation, I immersed myself in real estate. I dove into seminars and studied intently to acquire the knowledge and skills to build up a portfolio of 13 properties over 17 years. The world of real estate was intense—buying, renovating, and managing properties requiring dedication and significant time and capital. But despite the successes, there were losses, and I began to feel the constraints of this traditional investment route.

When I discovered Bitcoin. The shift wasn’t just a financial decision; it was a complete rethinking of investment principles.

Bitcoin vs Real Estate: A Paradigm Shift

Immediate Liquidity

Real estate is notoriously illiquid. Selling a property involves months of waiting and navigating through intermediaries. Bitcoin, however, offers liquidity like no other. It’s a 24/7 global market where you can buy or sell instantly. This flexibility in managing assets is a game-changer.

Simple Dollar-Cost Averaging

In real estate, making regular small investments isn’t practical due to high costs and entry barriers. With Bitcoin, I can dollar-cost average effortlessly—investing a set amount regularly, no matter the market’s state. This straightforward approach helps mitigate volatility and aligns with Bitcoin’s long-term value.

Freedom from Leverage and Taxes

Real estate investments often mean taking on mortgages, paying hefty stamp duties, and dealing with ongoing maintenance. Bitcoin cuts through this complexity. There’s no need for leverage or additional taxes, especially under Australian property tax laws. The entry is simple and direct.

Global Accessibility and Portability

Real estate ties you to a location and requires ongoing management. Bitcoin is global and easily transportable. I can access and manage my investments from anywhere, free from the physical constraints of property. It’s a sleek, hassle-free investment in a digital world.

Bitcoin: A Superior Store of Value

The move from real estate to Bitcoin was transformative. While real estate taught valuable lessons about long-term investment, Bitcoin offered a new understanding of wealth preservation and growth. Its decentralised nature, free from traditional intermediaries, adheres to principles of hard money that felt more secure in a volatile world.

For those feeling the challenges of traditional property management or considering new investment avenues, Bitcoin presents a compelling alternative. It represents a forward-thinking approach — flexible, accessible, and suited for a digital age.
