BOok List
The booklist is a collection of books I recommend to anyone looking to further understand Bitcoin and how Bitcoin fits into a broader global context.
Titles will be progressively added to the list.
Broken Money
Lyn Alden
A comprehensive overview of the past, present, and future of money. Broken Money is an in depth explanation of how ‘good’ money works and how the current centralised fiat system of money is broken and does not work for most citizens of the world. Alden believes the current system is imploding, and that Bitcoin is the best available solution. This book is a must read for people wanting to learn more about the history and nature of money.
Hidden Repression
Alex Gladstein
Gladstein examines the track record of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and World Bank, and how their loans and policies of structural adjustment have plunged poor developing countries into never-ending debt traps that result in weak sovereignty and broken industries. Gladstein argues the IMF and World Bank “development and assistance” is in reality a history of neocolonial exploitation.
Principles for Dealing with The Changing World Order
Ray Dalio
Dalio studies the past to better understand the future. He uniquely describes the cycles of money, credit, debt, and the rise and decline of empires and their currencies. He maps the historical direct correlation of a devalued currency and the decline of an empire.
The Bitcoin Standard
Saifedean Ammous
A must read for anyone new to Bitcoin. Saifedean Ammous brilliantly explains the history of money, and outlines the pitfalls of centralised money and its history of debasement, misuse and mistrust. He outlines the case for Bitcoin as the global reserve currency, and why it is superior to any currency we have had before.
